California buckeye

California buckeye blooms are extremely toxic to bees
and can kill a whole colony.
In some cases, dead bees have been found still on the flower that
killed them, or littering the ground under this California
native tree.
The seed pods have also been known to cause cattle to drop
still-born calves.
